Launching Applications as Administrator

1. Overview

Some types of applications (typically system tools) require that they be specifically run in administrator (high administrator) mode, regardless of whether you are logged in as an administrator on that particular device. This allows the application to make major changes to your system and settings, or to make your system inoperable if you do not know what you are doing.

2. Launching Applications as an Administrator

Here are some ways to run an application with higher privileges.

Right-click on the application and select Run as Administrator.

>>Launching via Search<<

Open the search window (the magnifying glass icon next to the start menu); enter the name of the application you want to launch. Then in the window of searched applications, right-click the application and select Run as Administrator.

Right-click on the application, select Next and then click Run as Administrator.

3. Permanent Settings

You can also set applications to always run with high privileges, regardless of their default behavior.

1. Right-click on the application and select Properties.
2. On the Compatibility tab, check the Run this Program as Administrator menu and click Apply.
