Azure Dev Tools for Teaching
As part of the university’s agreement with Microsoft, we have an Azure Dev Tools for Teaching license, which allows students and teachers to get free licenses for a variety of development tools, software, and services needed to create applications or websites. Specifically, this includes:
- Applications such as Visual Studio Enterprise, Project Professional, and Visio Professional.
- Windows operating systems for non-commercial use.
- Access to virtual servers in the Azure cloud, with resources valued at $100 USD or $200 USD.
- Learning materials for application development.
Who can use the program?
VŠE Students can use it on their personal computers if they are enrolled in at least one course where they use or could use one of the offered development tools. After completing their studies at VŠE, they may continue to use the software for non-commercial purposes (see below) but are not permitted to install it on new devices.
VŠE Teachers can use it on school-owned computers (office desktops, school laptops) if they teach an IT-related subject (preferably a course that uses one of the available development tools).
Usage Restrictions
The software and services available through this program can be used:
- To support teaching and (self-)education.
- For non-profit or grant-based research.
The software and services cannot be used for:
- Any commercial or for-profit activity, including training external parties or conducting commercial research.
- On computers where you are not the primary user (e.g., computers belonging to parents or friends).
- Activities unrelated to research or teaching (e.g., administrative staff or network administrators cannot use it for their day-to-day work).
VŠE Support for Software and Services
VŠE does not provide support for installing programs, their usage, or the use of other services offered. Users are solely responsible for using the services in accordance with the license terms.
