Multi-Factor Authentication in Microsoft 365
You can secure your school account in Microsoft 365 using multi-factor authentication. Setup is easy: Set up one or more multi-factor authentication methods in Microsoft 365. Join the team in MS Teams mandatory-MFA using the code 8zi2hcg.
Multi-factor authentication in Microsoft 365 offers several authentication methods. Some are based on the second factor over entering a login name and password – you usually need a mobile phone. There are also two methods for logging in without entering a password (passwordless) – just enter the PIN for the security key or log in using a fingerprint/face scan on a paired computer with Windows 10/11.
You can also use multi-factor authentication in Microsoft 365 for simplified login to the study system. Some users are required to use multi-factor authentication in Microsoft 365 – usually crucial system administrators.
We plan to enforce multifactor authentication when risk logging in to Microsoft 365:
- unusual way (you log in in Prague and within the hour you have another login in Munich, both from IP addresses for home users),
- unknown login properties (when logged in, the browser passed meaningless data about itself, the browser is not updated, login from the application, …),
- use of anonymous IP addresses (login via VPN without authentication, login via Tor, …).
