Login to the Study System using eID (NIA)
1. Benefits of logging in with eID
The European Digital Identity (eID) will be available to EU citizens, and residents who want to identify themselves. You can also use your eID to log in to the VŠE study system from October 2023.
You can use an eID issued by the Czech Republic or the national identity of other EU countries to log in.
The Czech Republic also issues eIDs to foreigners with a longer stay on its territory.
Benefits for users of the study system:
- another way of multi-factor login to the learning system
- a user logged in with an eID can change a forgotten password or re-set two-factor authentication
- eID login will be available after graduation (so you will no longer need to remember your school login details)
Applicants can also apply using their eID when submitting their application. Then the application form is pre-populated with the details provided such as First Name, Last Name or Residential Address
For more information on eID, please visit portal www.identitaobcana.cz (NIA). The login is done through this portal. You can set up eID using the Mobile Key of eGovernment on this portal. The MojeID information page is clearer for users.
2. Login with eID, account pairing
The first time you log in, your accounts are paired: you log in with your eID and then enter your InSIS login details in the second step. Account pairing only takes place on the first login.
Login steps:
- Select the eID (NIA) option on the login page.
- Select an authentication method – Mobile key of eGovernment, Name password and SMS code, Identity card new, IIG – International ID Gateway or MojeID (two methods).
- You will be asked to provide the First Name, Last Name and Date of Birth attributes – I recommend enabling them on the first login, they are not needed on subsequent logins.
- The first time you log in, your accounts will be paired.
And you are logged into the study system.
3. Login with eID when applying for studies
Applicants can log in using their eID when applying for studies.
The application form will be pre-populated with the information that the applicant allows when submitting the application (First name, Last name, …).
eID is not supported for course applications or U3V applications.
4. Why is bank identity login missing?
Logging in with your bank account (using your bank identity) is a paid service. Exceptions to payment are public administration information systems, e.g. filing a tax return or accessing the cadastral office. Study systems at universities are not exempt.
Set up another (additional) way to log in – this can also be done online. We recommend a Mobile Key of eGovernment or MojeID account, as you can authenticate with these options for foreign services (eg. europass).
Mobile Key of eGovernment uses the mobile application of the same name, which scans the displayed QR code. When you set up the app, you can authenticate yourself using another eID authentication method, via a data box (datové schránky) or by physical authentication at a CzechPoint office.
The MojeID account uses either the mobile app or the USB FIDO2 key. When you open a MojeID account, you can authenticate yourself physically at a CzechPoint office, online via another eID authentication method (other than bank identity) or via a data box (including bank identity). The instructions are on https://www.mojeid.cz/en/egovernment/.
5. International users
Users with a residence permit or a visa for more than 3 months can log in just like Czech citizens – they can use the Mobile Key of eGovernment, MojeID and other options except for Czech identity card. For more details see https://info.identitaobcana.cz/foreigners/default.aspx.
Citizens of most EU countries can also log in with their national eID through the international ID gateway.
